Madder roots produce a variety of reds including orange reds, brick red, blood red and fiery reds. You can save time by starting with ground madder.
Madder dye produces better colours in hard water. To achieve a good red it helps to add chalk in the form of calcium carbonate. Read about dyeing with madder here - http://www.wildcolours.co.uk/html/madder_dye.html.
Use the Orange menu to navigate to: 'Red dyes' then 'Madder dye'.
The ground madder roots are weighed and sealed in a polythene bag.
